Heard a young band of sisters known as SHEL by random luck and have been mesmerized ever since by Sarah, Hannah, Eva and Liza, thus collectively spelling up the name SHEL. This music video is of their track entitled The Latest and Greatest Blueberry Rubber Band.
Ike & Tina Turner perform Otis Redding's song entitled Respect in this 1971 live TV performance. Otis Redding's respect was also covered by Aretha Franklin and countless other recording artists. This is a classic version of the song. The back up singers simply give it their all, as does Tina Turner in her classic style. The female recording artist known as Ayo radiates love, and often hangs her heart over the edge and sings about pain. Angels have blessed her with one of the sweetest soulful voices. Just a glance into her eyes and the radiance of her kindness and love shines bright and is as rare and pure as the groove and soul in her music.
This particular live filmed performance was for a French show, Taratata TV. Ayo and actor/musician Gary Dourdan perform the historic classic Sam Cooke song titled A Change Is Going To Come. The song was track #7 on the album titled Ain't That Good News, which was his 13th and final album, which was released on March 1, 1964 on the RCA Victor label, which still exists today as RCA Records.
The recording featured below has slightly reduced audio and video resolution, to the point of sounding like an old AM radio in a 1964 Volkswagen Bug, which isn't such a bad thing because that is when the song was relased. Turn it up!

That is Bob Hope's voice introducing Rufus featuring Chaka Khan in this awesome old school 1974 clip as they perform their first hit together titled Tell Me Something Good, live in what was an early career breakout performance just about when Chaka Khan's career was starting to get traction. This is a great piece of history. What's not to love?
Chaka Khan and Rufus - Tell Me Something Good (Live)
Everything about this song is excellent. The groove, the passion, the truth inside the artists soul and her ability to let it all out. The song crosses genres and depending upon opinion, it's part soul, part reggae, deeply African/Nigerian and might be crossing into pop, jazz and other genres.
Nneka, though not yet widely known in the U.S., has her broadest fan base internationally, yet really deserves much more acclaim in the U.S. markets to build her up globally to the heights this network hopes she reaches in due time.
Nneka is one of the most substantive artists on the horizon and a most gifted activist oriented recording artists stumping for Africa, the world, love, truth and real change. Nneka delivers the goods crossing multiple genres of funky soulful reggae that meets jazz, dub and groove mixed with powerful edgy vocals with a sass that is all her own.
