Music Television is very proud to once again present the fabulous singer, songwriter and recording artist, Gaby Moreno.
She plays in everything from full blown electric bands with real horns and strings all the way down to keeping it simple, unplugged and acoustic. She jumps from from English to Spanish songs as she crosses multiple genres with grace and style. No the matter the occasion, she matches it with impeccable versatility.
Below is a very tasty Gaby Moreno performances from a 2011 appearance on NPR Music's Tiny Desk Concert with her friend Adam Levy sitting in on guitar & background vocals with perfection. They perform three of Gaby's originals from her album titled Illustrated Songs.
Each of the three songs are a captivating treat. The final of the three is titled Sing Me Life which is sort of a call to arms to not let outside powers rule ones world. It's terrific down the the last note. The studio version is a worthy listen as is the entire Illustrated Songs album.

Here is a fantastic take of James Brown performing live on Soul Train. Obviously, The Godfather of Soul is not the kind of man to lip sync, like some artists did on Soul Train. A thank you to the IkeDyson SoulTube channel for the great clip.

When I was just a kid in the 1970's, my mom had a 8 track tape of Deodato that was all instrumental and it was cool. It was like a quiet storm kind of contemporary jazz that I played over and over. Typed Deodato's name into YouTube and here is one of the tracks from that record! Enjoy!

Every day I scour through dozens of e-mails from random people many of whom are the artists themselves, with leads on songs listen to for possible inclusion here. I really appreciate the artists, who over time, consistently improve and seem to never stop putting out new and original songs.
Here is a band that felt kind of generic to me when I first heard it a long time ago. But over time, I have come to appreciate them for the fact that they never let up. They keep writing songs, posting them on youtube and each time, I hear improvements in the recordings and their videos seem to get better. The vocalist has a bit of Olivia Newton John living inside of her and it's not hard to figure out she is authentically sweet. Today, I received a e-mail from the group about their latest track and I thought they are really finally getting somewhere. It's a really long road, that old DIY Highway, and it seems they are riding on it and enjoying every mile.
Here is Starar and their latest track entitled RolePlay
I just can't get enough of this artist. She is from Lagos Nigeria, but had lived all over the world in places such Germany, France, the U.S. and other places. She is amazing in her own unqiue way and it surprises me that she is not more well known in the United States, yet. (Gregory J. Chamberlain)
This song below, titled I'm Gonna Dance, is track #2 from Ayo's 2011 album release titled Billy-Eve, named after Ayo's daughter. The album was released by Polydor Records. The music video was directed by Pietro Di Zanno.

Love the sound and passion coming from this Pakistani artist, Nustrat Feteh Ali Khan, who died on August 16, 1997. But his music is world renowned and lives on. All three of these versions of Nustrat Fateh Ali Khan's song entitled "Mustt mustt" rolls out it's own idea of soul that Nustrat, his group and audiences all ride like a magic carpet. His genre of music is considered to be Qawwali, the devotional music of the Sufis, a tradition within Islam.
