More about MUSE and the DRONES album

Muse is a trio whose members are:
  • Matt Bellamy on lead vocals, guitars, keyboards, piano, synthesizers and keytar.
  • Dominic Howard is on drums, percussions, synthesizers and backing vocals.
  • Chris Wolstenholme on bass guitar, backing/lead vocals, guitars, keyboards and harmonica
DRONES is a deep album, both musically and philosophically.

Matt Bellamy was the principal songwriter on DRONES with the exception of two classical music composers in the final two tracks of this twelve song album.
  • Track #11 titled "The Globalist" contains music based on "Nimrod" from the Enigma Variations, composed by Edward Elgar, the self taught English composer 1857 to 1934, whose style, story and musical depth is a study. He drew sketches and water-colored on his sheet music, adding a dimension to the feeling of the music.
  • Track #12, which is titled Drones, contains music based on the Benedictus from Missa Papae Marcelli, a mass (church) sine nomine by a composer active in the mid to late 1500's named Giovanni Pierluigi da Palestrina.

Philosophically, DRONES is a concept album that tells a story of soldier from abandonment to indoctrination as a human drone and to his eventual defection.

The previous two MUSE albums prior to DRONES were self produced.  On DRONES, they collaborated with legendary producer Mutt Lange. If you are not familiar with Mutt, here is a listing of his top 10 albums according to Eduardo Rivadavia of UltimateClassicRock.Com.

Cobe Obeah - True Colors (featuring Nneka)

Music Television presents Nneka with Cobe Obeah

One artist who has been stumping for the common man in her native Nigeria and others around the world who feel marginalized by the various Police States around the globe that exist, is a wonderfully deep prolific recording artist named Nneka.

On her own, Nneka is a powerful voice, who occasionally collaborates and lends herself to others who have something important to say.

Nneka wrote this about one such song, featured below, which she participated in: "TRUE COLORS... the new Video by COBE OBEAH feat. NNEKA inspired by the american police, upcoming elections in Nigeria, hate, Boko haram, War, breakups, and love..."

While the industry is applauding D'Angelo for his recent release, Black Messiah, we hope that the industry also embraces other artists of deep substance like Nneka, who has been in the trenches, fighting the fight non-stop since she first hit the scene, slightly more than a decade ago. This woman embodies the activist spirit of those like Bob Marley, Nina Simone, Fela Kuti and John Lennon. She is the real deal. Her friend Cobe Obeah may just be another artist of substance to keep on our radar.
