Dylan re-interprets Sinatra hits

Music Television presents Bob Dylan's re-interpretation of The Night We Called It A Day

Just below is Bob Dylan's latest music video directed by Nash Edgerton (see full video production credits at bottom of post). The video is to Dylan's recording of The Night We Called It A Day. The song was written by Matt Dennis and Tom Adair in 1941 and covered by numerous artists including Frank Sinatra.  All the songs on Dylan's most recent ten song album titled Shadows In The Night were songs handpicked by Dylan as a tribute to Sinatra and songs he had recorded at some point in his career.  This extraordinary video for The Night We Called It A Day is more like a classic gangster film, than a music video, depicting the genre films from a period in the Sinatra era. It's the kind of work that music lovers expect from greatness, and no less.

Birdy - Not About Angels (Music Video)

MusicTelevision.Com presents Birdy's song Not About Angeles

The first time we featured Birdy and four of her videos was back in a March of 2012 post where we wrote: "The songs below are by a gifted girl who can sit down at the piano and sing her ass off with no pomp or circumstance and deliver the goods with exceptional perfection. Her sensitive and emotionally driven angelic voice is mind alteringly beautiful."

Standing by our previous statement, we are proud to present the latest single from Birdy titled Not About Angels from The Fault In Our Stars film soundtrack.  Enjoy!

Chicago - America (Music Video)

MusicTelevision.Com presents Chicago and the music video to the song America

The man who is probably the most powerful player in the music business, Irving Azoff, re-tweeted: "Dear Congress, it's not just Chicago sayin' it...". The tweet was originally from the band Chicago who recently released a new song called America. In a time when too few artists and bands are attempting to embarrass politicians who have been fucking up our once great country that has become a arrogant war mongering, currency diluting, drone using, bomb dropping, paranoid, spying police state, it is great too see any attempt whatsoever to embarrass the culprits and encourage American people to actually do something.

Trixie Whitley - Never Enough (Music Video)

Music Television is pleased to present Trixie Whitley and the music video for Never Enough, which is the 2nd track from her 11 song album titled Forth Corner.

Her recordings contain all sorts of interesting electric guitar sounds with an underlying intrinsic etherealness to it that is all her own. Bubbling & brewing at the roots of the songwriting seems to be a soulfulness with a real syncopated funk with minimalist beats.

Whitley is a true original with integrity, not clawing for fame, just keeping it real. She has the kind of songs that grow on you, not always upon first listen. Her songs are like da kine creeper, meaning the more you listen, the more you get it and like it :)

Fiona Apple - Hot Knife

From one of the truest eccentric living artists out there, down below is Fiona Apple's latest music video to her song titled Hot Knife, the closing #10 track from her most recent album titled "The Idler Wheel Is Wiser Than the Driver of the Screw and Whipping Cords Will Serve You More Than Ropes Will Ever Do".

The director is a former Apple flame, Paul David Anderson, who directed other Fiona Apple music videos including "Across the Universe" in 1998, "Fast as You Can" in 1999, as well as the "Limp" and "Paper Bag" music videos in 2000.

True to her authentic form, looking very healthy and in the moment with zeal for her craft, Fiona Apple's beauty shines with her minimalist music arrangement that uses only a drum and sparse piano as she layers her own voice into thick harmonies and a jungle of sound that is all her. Another tasty work of substance by Apple and Anderson destined for classic status amongst us cult followers.

TLC - Creep (The story behind the song and Left Eye's protest)

TLC is Tionne "T-Boz" Watkins, rapper Lisa "Left Eye" Lopes, and Rozonda "Chilli" Thomas

The song Creep by TLC was on the groups CrazySexyCool album and was released as a single on Halloween day of 1994. It earned the group a Grammy Award for Best R&B Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocals in 1995. The writer and producer of the song, Dallas Austin, also earned a Grammy nomination for best R&B song.

A interesting story about this song came out in the documentary, The Last Days of Left Eye, devoted to the now deceased member of TLC, Lisa "Left Eye" Lopes, who very unfortunately died in a car accident in 2002 while driving in Honduras. The car she was driving flipped, threw her from the car and killed her.

In the documentary Left Eye said she was 100% against the release of "Creep" as a single, and threatened to wear black tape over her mouth in the music video. She thought that when a girl finds out that her man is cheating on her, the girl better leave rather than cheat back.

This is a timeless song from a great R&B era. Turn it up and enjoy!
